About Ben Gummer
I have lived in Suffolk all my life. I work in business, running a consultancy in London, although I am taking time out to write a book, to be published in eighteen months time. I have been an active Conservative for many years and have a particular interest in education and the penal system.
I am a fund-raiser for a charity that helps ex-prisoners go to university. A life-long Ipswich Town supporter, I love music, travelling and discovering Suffolk pubs with friends.
But why do I want to stand as a parliamentary candidate? Ipswich people want a representative who shares their aspirations and really cares about their town. Ipswich is on the up but like a lot of people I am also aware of its problems. Roads and trains can’t cope with planned growth. Ipswich hospital is over-burdened. Children are being denied the education they deserve. Anti-social behaviour is on the rise. I am passionate about confronting these challenges and have the drive to make sure something is done.
I also know that Ipswich people want a strong local advocate and a robust voice in Westminster to make their concerns heard.
I would be privileged to serve in that role.
