More Rail Capacity
Currently freight traffic to and from Felixstowe Port has to go through Ipswich Station, causing congestion on the mainline. Network Rail wanted to build a bypass north of Ipswich, but government funding was not guaranteed. Ben asked government ministers to confirm funding, securing a firm commitment for the project to proceed. Rail capacity on the main line will be released, contributing to the better train service that Ben has pledged to fight for.
