What Ben can do for you

Ben is here to help your voice be heard

Ben has already helped hundreds of constituents with issues where local procedures have failed or problems seem to have no other answer. Please remember that Ben can do much more for you if you have already tried to raise the issue through whatever other options are open to you first - because then he can add his voice to yours.

In many cases involving local issues, your local councillor will be best placed to deal with your issue as they work at the heart of Ipswich local government on your behalf. To find out who your local councillors are go to www.writetothem.com.

Another very useful port of call is the Citizen’s Advice Bureau which is located at 19 Tower Street, Ipswich. You can call the Adviceline with your questions on 01473 219777 or see www.ipswichcab.org.uk.

There are also a number of local links to other organisations in Ipswich and Suffolk who may be able to be of assistance to you.

However, if at any stage you feel as though you are not being listened to, then you should get in touch with Ben.

You need to begin by sending him a formal written account of your problem.

Your note should include ALL of the following:

  • Your full name
  • Your full, permanent home address including postcode.
  • Your telephone number.
  • Your email address.
  • A description of the problem itself.

Please see the Contact Ben page for details of how to send your note to Ben or alternatively bring it to Ben in person at one of his fortnightly constituency surgeries (please call 01473 232 883 or click here to request an appointment).

Ben aims to respond to you personally within two weeks of receiving your letter or email to discuss your case with you and decide what kind of action he could take to make a difference.

Please note

Ben must be contacted by the person who is experiencing the problem themselves. If you are concerned on behalf of another person, such as a friend or relative, please encourage them to contact Ben directly; and

If your problem is in relation to on-going court proceedings of any sort, you must use the appeal process or make a formal complaint as appropriate. Unfortunately, Ben cannot intervene in live court cases because of the principle of the "separation of powers", which means that the political part of the state must always be totally separate from the courts. This is to prevent corruption.
