At least eight candidates will be fighting the Ipswich constituency at the general election. With Gordon Brown having asked the Queen to dissolve Parliament for an election on May 6, the far-right British National Party has added its name to those standing in the town. Ben Gummer, Tory candidate, said: “I am very sad that the BNP will be spreading its lies and disinformation around Ipswich. I can understand the concerns that people have over immigration, but the BNP is playing on that for its own wrongful ends.”
