Candidates talk rail links to Ipswich

BBC News Website

Candidates for the Ipswich constituency in Suffolk have outlined how rail transport to the town could be improved. Conservative candidate Ben Gummer said: "For too long the Norwich to London line, which serves Ipswich, has been the poor relation of lines elsewhere in the country: it has been blighted by unreliability, poor punctuality and aging rolling stock. We have a great opportunity with a new franchise coming up to ensure that this situation comes to an end - for good. We need radical improvements in punctuality. Commuters and travellers from Ipswich need a rail service they can rely on, a rail service that will get them to work on time."
