Ben's Priorities
Ipswich people get a raw deal out of their MP. I will offer them something they have not had for years: a strong voice at Westminster and a robust advocate within the Borough.
Ipswich has always been a safe town, but arson and vandalism, car theft and anti-social behaviour make some parts of the town increasingly unpleasant. I will press for the effective policing of the very small number of people who make life a misery for the rest of us.
Ipswich is growing faster than at any time in its history, yet the government is doing nothing to give the town the transport and service infrastructure it needs to cope with all the new houses and jobs that are planned. I will campaign for the investment that a growing Ipswich demands.
The staff at Ipswich Hospital work hard to care for people from all over Suffolk, yet they are battling against government underfunding of Suffolk health. Some specialities are in a critical state. Unlike the present Labour MP, I will work for the hospital's independence from central meddling.
As Ipswich people are well aware, this government has failed the country on illegal immigration. I will join other Conservatives in their efforts to ensure that we police our borders properly.
Ipswich has some good schools but not all children in Ipswich enjoy the education that the most fortunate receive. I will support greater freedom for schools to stream pupils and enforce discipline.
Gordon Brown has stolen the pensions of so many of the people of Ipswich. I will fight for a better deal for our older people.
